REBECCA WYHOF SALMON FILES FOR RE-ELECTION
Salmon running to continue representing
Ward 5 on the Sanford City Council
July 8, 2019 - Rebecca Wyhof Salmon is pleased to announce her re-election bid for the Ward 5 seat on the Sanford City Council.
“It’s an honor to serve the citizens of Sanford and represent Ward 5,” Salmon said. “I am running to continue the positive work we are undertaking to make Sanford a great place to live, work and play.
“My top priorities since I joined the Council have included community revitalization, economic development, ensuring public safety and a commitment to open and responsive government. I am proud of the work this Council has done to make strides in each of these key areas.
“Using the momentum we started with the completion of our downtown streetscape projects, economic development partnerships, public arts initiatives and sound financial management, we are ready to continue moving our community forward. I am seeking another term to play an active role in several major projects including updating the Unified Development Ordinance, working on quality of life projects like the new Splash Pad and expanded greenways, and diversifying our growing economy.”
Salmon is the President of Blue Roof Strategies and holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the UNC-Chapel Hill’s School of Government as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Public Communication from American University in Washington, DC.
She currently serves as Mayor Pro Tem and represents the City of Sanford on the Joint Interlocal Committee, the Appearance Commission and the Joint Environmental Affairs Board. She is the Immediate Past Chair of the Triangle J Council of Governments and serves on the Rates, Tariff and Legal Review Board of Foreign Trade Zone #93. She was appointed by Governor Cooper in 2018 to serve on the North Carolina Oil and Gas Commission.
